Snot

The Wartime Housewife is currently in bed, sweating and snuffling.  And not in a good way.

When I recover, I shall discourse upon why being ill when one is a single parent is not really an option.

Drink plenty of hot lemonade with honey, or pineapple juice and chicken soup. The cambells chicken soup works the best for me when I get colds & flu. My colds have a tendancy to go to my chest, so I normally avoid any milk based products so avoid tea & coffee (unless you drink it black) etc, and I drink hot oxo, hot ribena, or hot orange barley water instead. With any luck one or a combination of the above will work as well for you as they do for me. Take care, keep warm & get well soon

Have a really hot bowl of chicken soup…..
Then follow with chili or a spicy version of the fruity curry I like here.
A warm bath, lemon drink and early bedtime and you’ll be back on your feet in no time. Get Well Soon!!

I hear you about the single parent thing. My boys have learned to step up to the plate and take on extra duties when I’m sick but they are older than yours. Give in, go to bed as much as possible, drink lots of fluids, and hopefully it will be of short duration.

I had a Trinidadian friend who swore by shots of hot rum and butter. Take one and go to bed, then take another one every half hour until you can’t get out of bed. He used to swear it worked for him every time.
